A scrum team has three main roles: The product owner, the scrum master, and the development team. Let's see what these scrum team members do and how they work together.
1. Product owner
The product owner is like the lead singer of a band, setting the tone and direction. He is the liaison between the stakeholders and the development team. His main responsibilities are as follows.
Define the vision
The product owner defines the project goals and vision. He or she establishes the scrum framework, ensuring that everyone is aligned and knows what success looks like. He or she draws the line of sight between business goals and engineering activities.
Ownership and management of the product backlog
The product owner is also a bit of a backlog owner. He is in charge of the product backlog hospital mailing email list and prioritizing items based on the strategy and goals of each sprint.
Communication with stakeholders
The Product Owner is the single point of contact for the business team. He or she communicates with the project sponsor/customer and reports regularly.
Evaluation of comments
Good Scrum teams give and receive feedback openly. Business teams and project sponsors/customers do as well. The Product Owner's role is to collect, evaluate, sift, and articulate feedback for action.
2. Scrum master
A scrum master is the band's manager, the one who makes sure the band gets to gigs on time and has everything they need to perform to their full potential.
They are masters of scrum, not people. Thus, a scrum master is the facilitator and coach of the team, not a manager. A scrum master's responsibilities include:
Facilitate scrum ceremonies
Scrum masters are responsible for ensuring that the team follows all scrum practices. They make sure that planning sessions, daily meetings, reviews, and retrospectives run smoothly and are productive.
