Registration cost

electronically through the State Services portal or the website of the Federal Institute of Industrial Property (FIPS).

When the application is accepted, it undergoes a formal examination by Rospatent. It is checked what documents have been provided, whether they are complete, and how much they meet the requirements.

After the formal examination is completed, the application is sent further – for substantive examination. At this stage, Rospatent checks for plagiarism and compliance with legal requirements.

Once these studies are completed, the advertising database applicant must pay a fee for the trademark registration procedure. After that, he is issued a certificate of successful registration of the trademark.

The entire trademark registration process takes 8-12 months. Most of the time is spent on checking for plagiarism and compliance with legal requirements.

In general, this process is quite lengthy. But more importance is attached to the filing of the application, rather than to receiving the certificate. The fact is that on the first day of registration you already have priority over similar unregistered marks, because now no one will be able to use your trademark. Everything that happens after the application is a matter of technique.

In addition to the usual, there is an accelerated TM registration. To do this, you need to contact the FPIS to receive the service of a quick check of the trademark in the Rospatent databases. The cost of this work depends on the speed of receiving the result and the number of TM groups to search. For example, if the search period is 20 days, and you need to search for two types of marks: figurative and verbal, then the final cost will be 47,200 rubles. If only 10 days are given, then you will need to pay 94,400 rubles. The received FPIS report will be used in the examination on the merits in Rospatent, which will reduce the time for registering the TM to 3 months.
