Covid19 2020
What a crazy year 2020 was! I think we all have the same concept about everything we experienced this year, right? Starting with a pandemic that changed and knocked everything down, and from that moment on, we began to live a very different reality than what we were used to, marked by prolonged social distancing that meant functioning in other ways, with technologies and with new goals; here the term reinvention played a fundamental role in the sense of permanence and survival.
Unquestionably, it has been a different year, not without its milestones that marked these memorable 365 days that will surely remain in our collective memory.
Quarantines and the explosion of Ecommerce
This was undoubtedly one of the most radical processes we had to experience in 2020; continuing with our obligations locked up in our homes, which caused the market to have to adapt to facebook database satisfying our basic needs related to the purchase of services and products. The solution? E-commerce.
And there was no safer way to sell than through the Internet, which caused an accelerated growth of online stores and in various areas of the market. We had already commented months ago which were the main products that people began to consume during the quarantine, at this point you may be interested in reading the following note: What products did we consume the most during quarantine?
Toiletries, office supplies, fitness items, and video game consoles were some of the main products of this “new remote consumer” and the numbers back it up. According to a study carried out by EBANX , an international financial group, called Beyond Borders 2020/2021 , it detailed that Chile grew by 53% in Ecommerce sales, surpassing the main countries in Latin America. Likewise, domestic sales, that is, on national sites and portals, also showed an increase compared to the previous year; if in 2019 e-commerce reached US$ 6.1 billion, this 2020 the figure reached US$ 7.1 billion, which means 81% of total purchases made through the Internet.
Finally, the same study estimated that sales of over US$ 10 billion are expected in the online market next year, having the highest projection in the region. It is even predicted that this figure will double by 2023.
At this point and due to the strong demand for Ecommerce by companies and entrepreneurs who had to jump on the e-commerce bandwagon, at Bsale we also applied various updates and new functionalities so that our customers' sales experience was up to par.
2020 is coming to an end: The end of a historic year
