In a short time, the skate park will open in Zichron Yaakov . How did it happen that a skate park built by none other than Grindline (one of the world's leading park builders) and designed by Avi Luzia and the "Kav Banof" company (yes, the same winning combination that brought you Galit Park ) will be established in a relatively small colony?
Well, the story spans four years, during which there were ups and downs, like any good story. I will shorten the plot and write only the gist. Anyone who wants more details can talk to me between the Ranims at the amazing "Flovol" that is currently being built.
The journey began in June 2004, when I met with the mayor of the city , Mr. Eli Aboutbol , in his office to talk about skate parks and to test his willingness to accept the idea. What can I tell you? I wish every city phone number data council had a leader like that. Very connected to the needs of the youth, Eli immediately embraced the idea of a completely public park designed for skateboarders and rollerbladers (this park is not intended for bicycles), and after personally examining wooden parks, he was convinced that concrete was better than wood.
Since then, Eli has always been attentive and pushed things forward.
In early 2005, the council engineer convened a meeting attended by Zvika Kanonich and Yitzhak Chail of Kav Banof . Friends: Most of you may not be familiar with these names – but if it weren’t for the endless work and energy of Zvika and Kav Banof and the company’s refusal to compromise on critical matters, we wouldn’t have the quality skate parks in Galit and Zichron.
Following the meeting, it was decided to allocate 500 square meters of public space in the emerging project called, of course, Dreams of Memory. This is where the project contractor, Mr. Oded Turgeman, came into the story, who was interested in the idea and demanded a lot of information about the subject and its implementation.
During 2005 and 2006, Zvika and I worked very hard to convince the relevant parties of the importance of planning and building the park by companies like Gradenline or Dreamland from the US. Reminder: In those days, Galit did not exist at all, and concrete parks appeared in videos in our presentations to the council and the contractor.
